• LPG Prices Increased

KARACHI: The prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) have shot up by Rs9 per kilogram in the domestic market following the producers’ announcement to raise ex-factory rates,.
This time, too, the producers referred the increase in petroleum products’ prices by the government the main reason behind LPG price hike.
After the recent upsurge, the per kg LPG retail price would be Rs69, while its 11.8kg cylinder would be available at Rs720 and 45.4kg cylinder at Rs2789, dealers informed the channel.
All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association has strongly reacted over the price hike, terming it a “big hit on their sales”.
“We consider the recent increase in LPG prices by the producers nothing but challenging the writ of the government,” said Abdul Hadi Khan who leads the LPG distributors association.
He feared that recent price hike would put a dent on sales.
“The price upward revision would curtail LPG sales almost by 40 percent, while the operations of some 30 percent marketing companies could be contracted.”
“LPG producers have started a price-revision exercise on monthly basis which is unjustified,” he criticized.
He demanded the government of taking marketing companies, producers and other stakeholders on board and formulating a comprehensive strategy regarding LPG pricing mechanism.
